I don’t know about you, but when I discover something new that helps me experience positive changes in my life, I want to share it with everyone I know. That’s one of the reasons we started Purelix Wellness.
I had heard about the many benefits of CBD, tried it myself and then watched as those around me used it to improve their lives and the lives of their family members and pets. If you’re a CBD enthusiast you may also have been trying to educate those you love in the hopes that they will take advantage of this exciting new medical development. If so, you could also be experiencing some pushback as these conversations can be complicated and frustrating.
CBD oil is a relatively new discovery and its use has been, on occasion, met with skepticism. Even though you may mean well when you rave about your experience with CBD, some people find it unwelcome. New ideas can be interpreted as an unintentional assault on one’s personal beliefs. Because CBD wellness is a new concept and because it derives from the cannabis plant, the topic may raise red flags with certain people in your life. We want to share some tips to help you talk to your loved ones about CBD so that they, like you, can enjoy a happier daily existence.
How to Talk About CBD
There are many potential roadblocks that might pop up when you talk about CBD with your loved ones. You’ll want to prepare yourself for the inevitable follow-up questions and reactions. They can make a big difference in how the rest of the conversation plays out. More importantly, these tips may help your friends and family understand CBD and open their minds to trying it For themselves. That is, after all, what the goal is. You’re simply trying to introduce them to a product that can help improve their lives!
If a school teacher quit every time a student acted up in class, we’d have no teachers left. When you talk about CBD with a loved one, you can be the teacher. You are using your knowledge and experience to help someone else learn. Adults, like children, aren’t great at listening to things they don’t want to hear. If someone is dead set against an idea or has preconceived notions about something, they close their ears and their minds to it. This is where your patience as a teacher comes in. Have your facts ready and encourage them to listen for a bit before expressing objections. Also, use your own personal experiences with CBD. Most everyone is influenced by first-hand accounts. Telling someone how CBD has helped them is far more effective than peppering them with facts and figures. And if they refuse to believe you when you share your excitement, don’t take it personally. Keeping your cool is always the best way of keeping the lines of communication open.
Explain the Difference Between Hemp and Marijuana
Many are skeptical when they hear about new wellness practices that are different than those pushed by the mainstream, old-school medical community. They may be even more resistant when you suggest trying CBD. It’s important to remember that, until the 2018 Farm Bill, hemp products were considered Schedule 1 drugs. So, until recently, a whole generation of people grew up thinking hemp was as dangerous as certain hard drugs like heroin. Now that we know how wrong this thinking was, it’s best to get rid of this elephant in the room immediately. Go ahead and mention that you use lab-tested, federally-compliant CBD that contains no materials that is able to get you “high” Then, by way of explanation, tell them about the difference between hemp and marijuana.
Hemp, which is a relation (like a cousin) of marijuana, has high levels of CBD and low levels of THC, the element in the plant that gets you “high”. Marijuana is just the opposite, lots of THC and not much CBD. Although there is plenty of science that could be used to expand on this issue, there’s no need top get too far down that road during your first conversation. Just be certain they understand the important difference between marijuana and hemp.
Show and Tell
In most cases, seeing is believing! Grab one of your CBD products like a tincture and take a dose right in front of them. If they see first hand that you won’t get high from CBD you’ll have a much easier time convincing them to try it for themselves. Explain that your trusted brand of CBD (hopefully Purelix Wellness) contains all-natural ingredients and has been tested according to government regulations.
If your loved one is still skeptical, it’s time to tell them about how CBD has helped you, and be specific! Let them know in detail how your quality of life has changed since beginning your CBD regimen and how easy it has been to make those changes. Because you are now feeling better because of CBD, you will hopefully let that come through in your words.
Talk About Celebrities Who Use CBD
Celebrities, whether we like it or not, are influential to most Americans. Movie stars, sports figures and TV personalities have a big impact on society and have been for generations. Because famous folks endorse something, often they give it instant credibility.
Stars who are either proponents or spokespersons for CBD include:
- Rob Gronkowski
- Michael J. Fox
- Mandy Moore
- Seth Rogen
- Kristen Bell
- Whoopi Goldberg
- Tom Hanks
- Jennifer Aniston
- Nate Diaz
- Busy Phillips
There’s bound to be a celebrity on that list that will help influence CBD skeptics. When in doubt, name drop!
Explain How You Think It Will Help Them
You’ll undoubtedly have no problem sharing YOUR experience with CBD and relating how much it has helped you. Now its time to shift the focus to the person you’re talking to. Explain that CBD is used by many different people who suffer from many different afflictions. You could mention that the muscle soreness they experience and can’t get rid of could be helped by CBD. Don’t just talk about how it applies to you but help them to imagine how much it could help them.
“Variety Is The Very Spice of Life, That Gives It All It’s Flavor”
One of the great things about CBD is that it offers a unique experience for everyone who uses it. I know of one Purelix Wellness fan who uses it to get a good night’s sleep while his wife uses it for foot pain. Some pet owners give it to their cats for hot spot skin issues and their dogs for anxiety. Similarly, there are numerous methods for taking CBD so everyone can choose their own delivery methods. Beginners may prefer testing out CBD by trying a tasty gummy while exercise enthusiasts may like a menthol-infused CBD sports cream to recover after a hard work out. Old school types would probably be open to a flavored tincture or an easy-to-take softgel for their daily dose of CBD. Let them know that, regardless of their preferences, they will be spoiled for choice.
Keep It Simple
When you first learned about CBD, chances are you didn’t want to hear all the scientific details. The Endocannabinoid System is a very complex and multi-faceted concept and the fine particulars behind it takes a bit of time to understand and can get confusing. Remember, when telling others about CBD, you don’t have to be an expert. Leave that to the professionals (that’d be us!) and encourage them to sign up for this blog or talk to one of customer service representatives. We can help them with any and all questions and love talking about CBD and the many benefits it offers.
